Porsche concluded its 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship campaign on a historic note after claiming an overall victory at the season-ending Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Driving the No. 6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 were factory drivers Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, and Matt Campbell. Together, they brought the hybrid prototype home in pole position in a grueling 10-hour race, securing a clean sweep of the manufacturers', teams', and drivers' titles in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

The dramatic victory was forged through 16 safety car periods, shifting track conditions, and a tense late sprint to the checkered flag. Vanthoor successfully fended off intense pressure from rivals in the closing minutes and was able to cross the finish line with a narrow 1.205-second lead. The result marks Porsche's first overall win at Petit Le Mans since launching the Porsche 963 program in 2023. It also makes Porsche the first manufacturer to win the endurance crown jewels at Daytona, Sebring, and Road Atlanta in a single season.

By controlling the long-distance calendar covering Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America, and Road Atlanta, Porsche secured all three endurance trophies. The performance further cemented the Porsche 963 as the most successful prototype of the current LMDh era, bringing its North American total to 15 race wins and eight titles. Despite the sister No. 7 Porsche 963 being forced to retire following contact roughly 90 minutes before the finish, Porsche still secured second place in the final overall IMSA manufacturers' standings.

Porsche customer teams complemented the factory prototype success with podium finishes in both GT categories. In GTD Pro, AO Racing's No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R, popular among fans for its "Rexy" dinosaur livery, battled at the front throughout the 10 hours before drivers Nick Tandy, Harry King, and Alessio Picariello claimed second place. Meanwhile, in the GTD class, the No. 912 Manthey 1st Phorm Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Ryan Hardwick, Riccardo Pera, and Morris Schuring mounted a steady comeback from near the rear of the grid to finish second.

The collective podium finishes across all three contested classes provided a fitting end to a record-setting endurance season for the Stuttgart manufacturer. Vice President of Porsche Motorsport Thomas Laudenbach praised the team's historic execution, highlighting the milestone as Porsche's first overall prototype victory at Road Atlanta in the top class.
