Porsche purists and enthusiasts might want to stop reading now.

The reason? This Australian-built, 996-generation 911 throws just about every Porsche convention out the window.

It ditches the marque’s signature rear-mounted Zuffenhausen flat-six in favor of a front-mounted, twin-turbocharged American V8 that sends more than 1,200 PS exclusively to the rear wheels.

Dubbed the ShowTime Repco 933, this radical creation is the result of the collaboration between automotive parts retailer Repco and custom car specialist Gary Reid of entertainment group ShowTime.

What started as a conventional 996-generation 911 has since undergone a transformation that would make even the most hardcore Porsche purist do a double take.

Up front sits a fully built 7.0-liter General Motors LSX V8 paired with twin Turbosmart turbochargers that are impossible not to miss, as its sheer size and induction system protrude through the hood.

Adding to the visual impact, the build employs an upswept open exhaust and wastegate setup that sends flames shooting skyward as the engine bounces off the rev limiter for those crowd-pleasing pops and bangs.

Fitting the massive V8 required extensive fabrication, including a redesigned firewall, floor, and transmission tunnel. With so much power on tap, the original 911 transaxle was never going to cut it, so an eight-speed Bentley gearbox paired with a sequential shifter was used.

Power is then sent to the rear wheels through a fabricated motorsport differential, making this front-engined 911 a radical departure from the original car’s mechanical layout.

Keeping everything cool is a mid-mounted cooling system installed behind the passenger compartment, separated by a full-height firewall. Accessed through a combined, one-piece rear window and former engine cover, the arrangement effectively gives this unconventional 911 a hatchback-style rear end.

Inside, the revamped cabin looks more like a proper race car than a road-going Porsche. It features a custom dashboard with machined inserts, boxed pedals, an aftermarket digital instrument cluster that resembles a Porsche layout, and a new infotainment display.

A multifunction Haltech steering wheel allows the driver to adjust settings and switch drive modes on the fly, while carbon-fiber Recaro seats, a custom transmission tunnel, and a carbon-fiber sequential shifter complete the cockpit.

A race-spec hydraulic handbrake for the rear wheels is another telltale sign of the car's intended purpose. With that much power going to the rear wheels, the 933 clearly isn't afraid of getting sideways.

The exterior is just as outrageous. While its overall silhouette retains some familiar 911 proportions, the car wears a handcrafted aluminum widebody kit with carbon fiber fender vents, side skirts, canards, and a front chin and splitter, creating a race-car-inspired front end.

The elaborate construction involves more than 280 separately fabricated parts and laser-cut details, while carbon-fiber body panels, including the roof, hood, and doors, complete the transformation.

A massive rear wing topped with a Le Mans prototype-inspired shark fin adds to the motorsport aesthetic. Filling the flared wheel arches are custom Rotiform wheels measuring 18x9.5 inches up front and 18x10 inches at the rear.

With its wild front-mounted V8, widebody styling, and drift-ready hardware, the ShowTime Repco 933 is less about preserving Porsche heritage and more about testing the limits of what a 911 can become.

Packing more than 1,200 hp on tap and flames shooting out of the hood, subtlety and tradition were clearly never part of this build.
