It's been more than a year since the Mitsubishi XForce HEV made its global debut in Thailand. With a 1.6L hybrid powertrain that's assisted by an electric motor, it makes a combined 116 PS with 255 Nm of torque. This puts it right alongside the likes of the Honda HR-V e:HEV and the Toyota Corolla Cross HEV.

Unfortunately, it has yet to be offered by Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC). With hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) continuing to become more popular and in demand, we're missing out on an important vehicle that MMPC may need to capitalize on soon. However, there are indications that the Philippine market may soon get the XForce HEV.

Just recently, Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia posted several teaser images of the XForce HEV ahead of its scheduled launch tomorrow, July 16. This will mark the first time the XForce HEV will be available outside of Thailand, from which the electrified crossover is manufactured.

To clear things up, the XForce HEV is manufactured at Mitsubishi's Laem Chabang plant in Thailand, while the regular XForce (like the ones we get) is made at the company's Krama Yudha factory in Cikarang, West Java, Indonesia.

With Indonesia set to launch the XForce HEV, does this mean the Philippine market is set to follow suit? MMPC has already confirmed that they want to build HEVs in PH via the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS) and went as far as saying that the locally-made hybrid model could roll out in 2028. However, MMPC has yet to reveal what hybrid model they will build in the Philippines, but only two models stand out: the XForce HEV and the Xpander HEV.

The Philippines is one of the most important markets for Mitsubishi, so there's a good chance either of the two HEVs will be manufactured in the country. But on the other hand, the Xpander Cross HEV stands a better chance of being built here since it's MMPC's best-seller.

As for the XForce HEV launching in Indonesia, there's no word yet if Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia will manufacture the electrified crossover in Cikarang. However, there are already reports that Mitsubishi's factory in Indonesia is being upgraded to build the XForce HEV for both left-hand drive (LHD) and right-hand drive (RHD) markets.

With that, could we soon get the XForce HEV from Indonesia?
