GWM expands partnership with auto safety systems giant Autoliv
GWM, Autoliv expand partnership to support overseas growth
Great Wall Motor (GWM) has signed a new Global Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement with Autoliv, expanding the companies' long-running partnership as GWM continues to grow its presence in international markets.
Autoliv is the world's largest Tier 1 automotive supplier, specializing in critical auto safety systems. While most car buyers may not recognize the name, the company develops many of the safety components found in modern vehicles, including airbags, seatbelts, and other occupant protection technologies that help reduce injuries during collisions. It supplies these systems to numerous car manufacturers around the world, including GWM.
The new agreement builds on the collaboration established between the two companies in 2023. According to Autoliv, the renewed partnership reflects both companies' goal of strengthening their global cooperation while addressing the evolving demands of the automotive industry.
Through the expanded agreement, Autoliv and GWM aim to improve the resilience of their operations and enhance their competitiveness in global markets. The partnership is also expected to support GWM's continued international expansion while laying the groundwork for long-term collaboration.
The companies will work together in several key areas, including global business growth, supply chain cooperation, localized operations, the development of integrated vehicle safety systems, and sustainability initiatives. They also plan to further align their innovation strategies and strengthen their product development capabilities.
"Today's agreement marks an important step in our continued collaboration with Great Wall Motor. By combining GWM's international growth ambitions with Autoliv's global capabilities in automotive safety, we are strengthening the foundation for an even more integrated and resilient partnership," said Mikael Bratt, CEO of Autoliv.
Meanwhile, GWM Chairman Jack Wei emphasized that safety remains central to the automaker's product development strategy.
"Safety is the bottom line of the automotive industry. The partnership between Great Wall Motors and Autoliv began with a shared vision and a steadfast commitment to the mission of safety. Now we are strengthening our collaboration and will jointly build the industrial cornerstone of automotive safety and deliver safer Great Wall vehicles to users around the world," said Wei.
