It looks like Ferrari Philippines distributor Velocita Motors Inc. is preparing to launch another thoroughbred in the country. While we already saw the F80 receive recognition from the Department of Energy (DOE) as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), that's not the only new stallion the Prancing Horse is set to bring.
After making its regional debut in Southeast Asia late last year, the Ferrari 849 Testarossa has just been recognized by the DOE as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Based on the DOE's listing, the 849 Testarossa comes with a maximum engine power of 611 kW or 830 PS, while its electric output is rated at 150 kW or 204 PS. It also has an 8.1 kWh battery pack, which is odd since when it was first launched, it came with a 7.45 kWh battery.

Besides being recognized by the DOE as a plug-in hybrid, the 849 Testarossa is now on Ferrari PH's website. In fact, the full specifications have been listed by the brand. With both the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 and a trio of electric motors working together, the Ferrari 849 Testarossa generates a total system output of 1,050 PS and 842 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. On battery power alone, Ferrari claims it can cover up to 25 km.
Size-wise, the 849 Testarossa measures 4718mm long, 1999mm wide, and 1186mm tall on a 2650mm wheelbase. It also has a curb weight of 1,660 kg and a 45:55 weight distribution. Meanwhile, grip is provided by 265/35 series tires in the front and 325/30/ series tires in the back, both of which are wrapped in 20-inch alloy wheels.

From a standstill, the Ferrari 849 Testarossa can sprint to 100 km/h in less than 2.3 seconds and can go from 0 to 200 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. Keep your foot buried on the accelerator, and the 849 Testarossa can reach a top speed of over 330 km/h.

With the Ferrari 849 Testarossa PHEV now on the Philippine website and already with DOE recognition, an official launch might not be too far away.
