MG Motor Philippines is about to stir up the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) with a trio of reveals. While the automaker has yet to name the upcoming models by name, recent regulatory approvals from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the silhouettes of the mystery models mean MG may likely launch the MG4 EV, the RX9 PHEV, and the HS PHEV.

However, there could be another model MG Motor Philippines may launch in the not-so-distant future. This comes after the DOE updated its list of recognized EVs and added the MG S5. Also called the MG ES5 in its home market, the S5 is a compact crossover SUV that runs on pure electric power.

Based on the DOE's listing, the S5 is powered by a 49.1 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack that drives a single electric motor producing 125 kW (170 PS) and 250 Nm of torque. The MG S5 supports both AC and DC charging, with the former rated at 7 kW and can recharge the S5 from 10% to 100% in 8.5 hours. On the other hand, the latter is rated at 120 kW and can replenish the S5 from 30% to 80% in just 24 minutes. On a full charge, MG says the S5 can travel up to 415 km on the NEDC cycle.

Size-wise, the MG S5 measures 4476mm long, 1849mm wide, and 1621mm tall on a 2730mm wheelbase. It also has 453 liters worth of luggage space with the rear seats deployed and up to 1441 liters if the rear seats are folded.

With MG Motor Philippines still quiet with regards to the S5, we're not entirely sure if they plan to reveal it at this year's PIMS. However, they may plan to hold a preview or launch after PIMS. Once revealed, the S5 could take on the likes of the BYD Atto 3.
