After giving us a preview of the S5 EV last July, MG Motor Philippines is set to launch its new compact electric crossover.

The MG S5 EV will be revealed on August 27 and is set to take on the likes of the BYD Atto 3, Chevrolet Captiva EV, and Geely EX5. In addition, the MG S5 EV will deliver stylish looks, a feature-packed cabin, and generous zero-emissions performance & range.

While official specifications have yet to be revealed by MG, the Department of Energy (DOE) has already mentioned some of its key features and powertrain specifications. For starters, the S5 EV will get a 49 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which translates to a range of up to 415 km, based on the NEDC standard. The battery then powers a single rear electric motor that puts out 125 kW or 170 PS with 250 Nm of torque.

To ensure the S5 can maximize the battery output, it comes with four regenerative braking modes: Low, Medium, High, and Adaptive. Speaking of the battery, MG says the S5 EV supports 7 kW Type 2 AC charging and up to 120 kW of CCS2 DC charging. The MG S5 can also power up devices and appliances via a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.

When it comes to amenities, the S5 EV comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, automatic climate control, smart keyless entry, and the brand's suite of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) called MG Pilot.

Witness the official launch of the MG S5 EV at the Trinoma Activity Center on August 27, 2026.
