Bentley set to go fully-electric by 2030
The brand famed for making W12- and V8-powered luxury cars just made a big announcement. By 2030, Bentley said that all of their models will be battery-electric powered. You read right, all Bentley vehicles beginning in the next decade will produce no emissions as they will be fully electric vehicles (EVs).
As part of the company's Beyond100 strategy, the Crewe-based luxury brand said that they promise to offer sustainable luxury by reinventing every aspect of its business to become an end-to-end carbon neutral organization. This includes switching its model range to a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2026 and going fully electric by 2030.

“Driving this change includes, and also goes beyond our products, delivering a paradigm shift throughout our business, with credibility, authenticity, and integrity. Within a decade, Bentley will transform from a 100-year-old luxury car company to a new, sustainable, wholly ethical role model for luxury,” said Bentley in a statement.
But before Bentley can offer a fully-electric luxury vehicle, Bentley plans to have a hybrid option available for every model by 2023. The first fully-electric Bentley will roll out in 2025 and will use a dedicated EV platform. Then come 2026, Bentley will exclusively offer PHEV and BEV models only within its range.
“By 2030, no more combustion engines. This is a profound change for the industry and we want to lead that change,” said Adrian Hallmark, Chairman, and CEO of Bentley Motors.

Apart from making only electric vehicles in the near future, Bentley is also looking to go completely plastic-neutral by 2025. The company is now busy making changes at its headquarters in Crewe by making more sustainable manufacturing processes as a way to bring down its carbon footprint.
With Bentley planning to all-electric in just 10 years, we won't be surprised to the next-generation models of the Bentayga, Flying Spur, and even the Continental come without an engine under the hood, an internal combustion one at that. Heck, we might even see a production version of the EXP GT 100 concept which previews the brand's sustainable luxury mobility.
