There will be no electric 911, says new Porsche CEO
Newly-appointed Porsche CEO Michael Leiters announces that the 911 will remain ICE
Back in 2021, then Porsche CEO Oliver Blume told CNBC that the 911 would be the last Porsche to go electric. But at the time, the company believed that by 2030, 80% of its global sales would consist of electrified vehicles.
Five years later, and with Michael Leiters now leading the company, Porsche has somewhat made it official that there will be no zero-emissions 911.
According to a report by German publication DPA International (Deutsche Presse-Agentur), new Porsche CEO Michael Leiters (formerly from McLaren) announced that they have ruled out making a fully electric 911.

Leiters made it official during a recent event held by German motoring magazine “Auto, Motor, Und Sport”. While the company did scale back some of its EV ambitions due to low sales and costly investments, it will continue to invest in electric mobility where it makes sense and where customers want it.
However, Leiters reiterated that there will be no electric 911 since it's an iconic product that progress must be ensured through combustion engine and hybrid technology. As a reminder, Porsche released the 911 GTS Hybrid, which is now on sale in the Philippines via PGA Cars.
There's also the all-new (and more powerful) 911 Turbo S Hybrid, which cranks out 711 PS with 800 Nm of torque, thanks to a pair of eTurbos, an electric motor, and a tiny 1.9 kWh battery. There's no word yet, however, as to when PGA Cars plans to launch it in the country.

Leiters also admitted that while Porsche is open to making electric propulsion for its cars (like the Taycan, Macan Electric, and Cayenne Electric), the company might have been a little too early in turning towards full electric mobility. Combined with the fact that demand for EVs slowed down, Porsche had to overhaul its EV plans and adjust their targets.
With the Porsche 911 not getting an electric version in the coming years, enthusiasts can rest assured that the legendary sports car will continue to have a turbocharged flat-six in the back.
