Goodbye EQ Blob, Hello Muscle: Next-gen electric AMG E-Class successor hits the Green Hell with 900 HP rumors

After months of radio silence that left enthusiasts wondering if development had stalled, Mercedes-AMG’s next-generation performance sedan has officially resurfaced. Spy photographers at the Nürburgring Nordschleife have caught prototypes of the upcoming electric E-Class equivalent putting in high-speed test laps, confirming a bold new direction for Affalterbach’s executive sports sedan.

In a dramatic departure from its internal combustion roots, the next-gen AMG super-sedan is dropping petrol power entirely in favor of an all-electric architecture built on the dedicated AMG.EA platform. Rumors from the paddock suggest an eye-watering output between 800 and 900 horsepower, powered by cutting-edge, ultra-lightweight axial-flux electric motors capable of delivering relentless torque vectoring and sustained track performance.

The biggest relief for brand purists, however, lies in its exterior design. The spy shots reveal that AMG has abandoned the rounded, jellybean-like "one-bow" shape characteristic of the current EQ line. Instead, the prototype showcases a return to a proper, aggressive three-box sedan silhouette featuring a long bonnet, a defined trunk lid, flared wheel arches, and a planted, muscular stance.

With a formal world debut anticipated for late 2027 and initial customer deliveries targeting 2028, AMG appears to be building a serious electric weapon that finally looks like a proper, hard-hitting performance sedan.
