With the standard all-electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class having made its market entrance earlier this year, performance enthusiasts are setting their sights on the upcoming full-blown AMG variant expected to debut around 2027.

The high-output electric performance sedan is being engineered as a direct response to a new wave of track-focused luxury EVs, most notably the upcoming BMW i3M.

Mercedes-AMG emphasizes that shifting away from internal combustion will not diminish driving dynamics, promising an authentic AMG experience regarding raw power output, track capabilities, and driver engagement. Despite relying entirely on electric motors, engineers are developing a specialized acoustic and vibration tuning setup designed to deliver the distinct auditory and sensory feedback expected from the Affalterbach brand.

To back up its performance claims, the upcoming electric AMG C-Class will complement its low-slung, aggressive body kit with active aerodynamic components engineered to increase high-speed downforce. Chassis upgrades will also include a specially tuned air suspension system and rear-axle steering to maximize cornering agility.

The upcoming electric sedan aims to prove that high-performance AMG character can thrive in a fully electrified package, setting up an intense battle for electric performance supremacy against traditional German rivals.
