XPeng GX flagship PHEV SUV receives DOE approval
DOE officially recognizes XPeng GX as a plug-in hybrid
We already know that XPeng is about to make its grand debut in the Philippines. Heck, they're already accepting reservations for the X9 MPV and have also confirmed that the L03 is set for a Philippine reveal. The automaker even received regulatory approval to bring the L05 range-extended EV, which has yet to be launched by XPeng in China.
But if you thought the L03, L05, and the X9 are the only vehicles XPeng has in-store for the Philippine market, another plug-in hybrid (PHEV) was recently recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE). Based on the agency's updated list, the XPeng GX is now on the DOE's list of PHEVs, and it's packing quite the powertrain.

For starters, it has a massive 63.3 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that powers a pair of electric motors: one in the front and one in the rear. The front motor produces a peak power of 160 kW (218 PS) with 230 Nm of torque, while the rear motor generates a peak power of 210 kW (285 PS) and 465 Nm of torque. Last but not least is a 1.5L turbocharged engine that makes 110 kW (150 PS) with 210 Nm of torque and serves as a generator for the 63.3 kWh LFP battery.
XPeng says that on battery power alone, the GX can cover up to 430 km on the CLTC standard. With a full tank of gasoline and a fully charged battery, however, XPeng claims the GX can do up to 1,585 km. It also supports an 800V architecture, which allows for ultra-fast DC charging. In fact, XPeng mentioned that a quick 12-minute recharge can give the GX up to 301 km of EV range.

Size-wise, the XPeng GX measures 5265mm long, 1999mm wide, and 1800mm tall on a 3115mm wheelbase. Beyond its futuristic-looking exterior, the GX comes with six seats and a fully decked-out cabin that's made for comfort and relaxation.
It has zero-gravity power seats with electric ottomans on the second row, Nappa leather upholstery, heated & ventilated seats with a massage function, third-row seats that can fold flat, LED ambient lighting, a 21.4-inch rear entertainment display, a 33-speaker sound system, a built-in fridge to cool your drinks, AI-dimming privacy glass, and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.

With the XPeng GX already listed by the DOE, perhaps we can expect the flagship PHEV to make its Philippine debut later this year.
