It looks like Lynk & Co Philippines might be cooking up a storm in the plug-in hybrid arena.

While they did launch the 08 EM-P plug-in hybrid (PHEV) crossover last year, which can do up to 1,400 km, they are relatively quiet this year. However, their recent quietness could be because the automaker is about to launch a couple of PHEVs this year.

We've already seen the Lynk & Co 06 PHEV get recognition from the Department of Energy earlier this year, but that may not be the only vehicle the automaker will have in store this year. Also getting recognized as a plug-in hybrid is the Lynk & Co 900 Ultra.

You read right, the brand's biggest plug-in hybrid crossover SUV has just received recognition from the DOE, and it has big numbers to back it up. Based on the DOE's listing, the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P Ultra will have a maximum engine and electric power of 175 kW or 238 PS. It is then assisted by a massive 50 kWh battery pack, which means the 09 EM-P can cover long distances on just battery power alone.

Size-wise, the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P Ultra measures 5240mm long, 1999mm wide, and 1810mm tall on a 3160mm wheelbase. Given its massive footprint, this Lynk & Co thwarts the 08 EM-P PHEV through sheer size.

Looking at the output figures and battery size, the PH-spec Lynk & Co 900 EM-P may get a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four and dual electric motors. Interestingly, the 2.0L turbo makes 187 kW or 254 PS in other markets. Combined with the dual electric motors, the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P has a combined system output of 730 PS and a staggering 1,038 Nm of torque.

Combined with the massive 50 kWh battery, the Lynk & Co 900 Ultra EM-P can travel up to 280 km and has a combined system range of up to 1,350 km, both based on the CLTC cycle. It also supports DC fast charging, which the brand claims can replenish the battery from 20% to 80% in just 17 minutes.

For now, Lynk & Co Philippines remains quiet with regard to the 900 EM-P Ultra PHEV. But with the DOE already giving them the green light, maybe they're just making the final preparations before the big reveal. Still, we're keeping our fingers crossed that our hunch is right.
