It looks like fans of the Mitsubishi Pajero may not have to wait that much longer. While Mitsubishi already announced months ago that they plan to reveal the next-generation Pajero in Autumn 2026, there was no exact date yet for the big reveal. However, a report by Japanese publication BestCar said that we could just be a month away from the official debut.

According to dealer information BestCar was able to obtain, the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero will reportedly be unveiled on September 2, 2026. Not only that, but instead of just being revealed in Japan, Mitsubishi will apparently hold simultaneous reveals across global markets to further build up hype. While this doesn’t mean the market launch is set for September 2, the big reveal will likely generate plenty of interest for Mitsubishi to capitalize on.

As mentioned before, the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero is expected to get a 2.4L bi-turbo diesel engine lifted from the Triton, along with a modified chassis that’s also derived from the pickup truck. There are also rumors going around that a hybrid version of the Pajero may already be in the works.

Based on unconfirmed reports, the electrified Pajero may be powered by a 2.4L gasoline engine that’s assisted by a pair of electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. If anything, this rumored version of the all-new Pajero could get its electrified hardware from the Outlander GT plug-in hybrid (PHEV). We’re curious to find out if that indeed will be the case.

Other than those, Mitsubishi has already confirmed that in the future, the all-new Pajero will grow into a family of models, which may likely mirror Toyota’s current Land Cruiser lineup. In addition, the automaker will bring back the signature multi-meter for the all-new model, albeit made digital.

With just over a month before the supposedly big reveal of the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that BestCar’s report is accurate.
