We’re only several days away from Kia Philippines launching its newest hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). In fact, Kia Philippines distributor ACMobility already confirmed that the all-new Sportage Turbo Hybrid will make its official debut on July 24, 2026.

Beyond that, the Department of Energy (DOE) has also revealed that there will be two variants of the Sportage Turbo Hybrid: EX and SX. With that, customers who are interested in a compact HEV crossover can choose from two different variants that will meet their needs.

Now, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has also given approval to the upcoming debut of the all-new Sportage Turbo Hybrid. This comes after the agency released new homologation documents for the turbocharged hybrid crossover.

As approved by the DOE, the LTO has recognized two distinct variants of the vehicle: the Sportage 1.6T EX HEV and the Sportage 1.6T SX HEV. Based on recently released memorandum circulars by the LTO, both the EX and SX models come with a 1598cc four-cylinder turbo-hybrid powertrain. It also measures 4685mm long, 1865mm wide, and 1660mm tall on a 2755mm wheelbase.

Apart from those, both the Sportage Turbo Hybrid EX and SX variants come with 235/60 series tires wrapped in 18-inch alloys, an empty weight of 1,724 kg, and a minimum ground clearance of 180mm.

Other specifications have yet to be revealed, but based on what other markets get, the Kia Sportage Turbo Hybrid delivers a total system output of 230 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

This means the Sportage Turbo Hybrid shares the electrified powertrain with the much bigger Sorento Turbo Hybrid, albeit the former makes slightly less. But since the Sportage is smaller, perhaps we can expect it to be quicker and deliver sportier handling.
