When we found out the Kia Sportage would make a Philippine comeback, we were expecting it to be present at this year's Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). But alas, Kia Philippines did not bring it to the World Trade Center Metro Manila.

But fret not, the turbocharged hybrid crossover SUV from Kia is coming sooner than you think. While it may not be at PIMS 2026, Kia Philippines Managing Director Jay Lopez has officially announced that the Sportage Turbo Hybrid will be making its debut next month. That's right, come July 2026, Kia will be launching the all-new Sportage after several years of absence.

While official details have yet to be revealed by the automaker, the Department of Energy has already recognized it as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and even listed some of its specifications. For starters, it will have a 1598cc (or 1.6L) turbocharged hybrid powertrain that's likely derived from the Sorento and Carnival HEV models. That means we can expect it to have a combined output of 235 PS and 367 Nm of torque. Power will then be sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Based on the DOE's listing, the Sportage Turbo Hybrid will only be offered in two variants: EX and SX. In terms of size, the Sportage Turbo Hybrid will reportedly measure 4685mm long, 1865mm wide, and 1660mm tall on a 2755mm wheelbase. It will also have a minimum ground clearance of 181mm.

Features-wise, the Sportage Turbo Hybrid may be available with leather or fabric upholstery, a power sunroof, a power tailgate, a wireless charging pad, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and more.

With the Kia Sportage Turbo Hybrid all set for next month's reveal, interested customers can secure exclusive access by signing up on the Kia Philippines website or by visiting the Kia booth at PIMS 2026 until June 7.
