BYD Philippines is set to make EV charging finish in as little as 5 minutes. While BYD’s EVs and PHEVs already support DC fast charging of up to 120 kW or more, DC charging can still take around 30 minutes to finish, depending on the battery size.

Well, BYD Philippines, together with ACMobility, is proud to announce that BYD’s Flash Charging technology is set to arrive in the country. BYD Philippines Country Head Adam Hu officially confirmed this at the BYD Denza Super Experience Week, held at the BGC Amphitheater from October 8 to 11.

Like the Flash Chargers that BYD is currently rolling out in China and in overseas markets, Adam Hu says the Flash Chargers are rated to deliver up to 1,500 kW (or 1.5 megawatts) of charge to EVs. When hooked up to BYD or Denza vehicles that are powered by the second-generation Blade battery, the BYD Flash Charger can replenish a battery from 10% to 70% in about five minutes and give it a range of nearly 500 km. Heck, it can also recharge EVs from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes.

Currently, BYD is on track to put up 20,000 flash charging stations across China by the end of 2026. At the same time, BYD is also busy setting up 6,000 flash charging stations overseas, with half of those allocated in Europe. That means the remaining half includes other regions like Southeast Asia and the Philippines.

The automaker did not mention how many Flash Chargers BYD Philippines will put up in the country. However, we won’t be surprised if the brand initially puts up a select few in key locations. But what type of vehicle from BYD or Denza can use the Flash Charger? Well, Denza Philippines has already opened the reservation books for the Z9 GT, which is set to arrive in the country in Q1 2027.

That means the Denza Z9 GT will likely be the first vehicle in the Philippines that will be able to use the 1.5 MW charging station from BYD. You can check out the Z9 GT at the BGC Amphitheater until October 11 at the BYD Denza Super Experience Week.
