Will Toyota PH launch the all-new Hilux at PIMS 2026?
Toyota PH gets approval for a light-duty vehicle with a 2775cc or 2393cc engines
We already know that Toyota Motor Philippines plans to launch several models in 2026. They already revealed the Urban Cruiser EV and the all-new RAV4 HEV earlier this year. However, the automaker has yet to launch the Land Cruiser 300 HEV, the Land Cruiser FJ, and the much-awaited next-generation Hilux.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has already recognized the upcoming Hilux 4x4 BEV, which will get a 59.2 kWh battery pack and a maximum electric output of 176 PS, based on the agency's listing. But where is the turbo-diesel version of the all-new Hilux?
Well, TMP has been quite busy securing more regulatory approvals to bring its upcoming vehicles to market. This comes after Toyota was able to receive regulatory approval for an upcoming light-duty vehicle that's available with two engines. One displaces 2775cc, while the other has a displacement of 2393cc.
As before, light-duty vehicles are described as pickup trucks, which could mean this is the next-generation Hilux. Moreover, the 2775cc engine most likely pertains to the 2.8L 1GD-FTV, while the 2393cc engine could be the smaller 2.4L 2GD-FTV turbo-diesels.
When the all-new Toyota Hilux was launched in Thailand last year, it was only available with the 2.8L turbo-diesel, which generates 204 PS with 500 Nm of torque when paired with a 6-speed automatic (420 Nm when equipped with a manual transmission). However, the 9th-generation Hilux for the Philippines could be offered with both the 2.4L and 2.8L turbo-diesel engines, with the former producing 150 PS with up to 400 Nm of torque.
There's no word yet from TMP as to when they plan to launch the all-new Hilux. But with the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show scheduled to take place this coming June, perhaps we'll get to see the all-new pickup truck, along with the other Toyota vehicles the brand plans to launch soon.
