Toyota Motor Philippines has realigned its executive leadership as it sharpens its focus on both day-to-day operations and industry affairs.

The country’s leading automotive manufacturer has appointed executive vice president Jose Maria "Jing" Atienza to the newly created role of Chief Industry Officer (CIO), while senior vice president Sherwin Chua-Lim has taken on a broader operational role within the company.

The leadership realignment was announced to the media at Toyota's 19th Road Trek event earlier in the month, but it is our understanding that both executives have officially settled into their new and expanded roles just recently.

This move allows Atienza to focus on industry-related initiatives, a responsibility that closely aligns with his role as president of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI). As Chief Industry Officer, he is expected to devote more attention to matters involving the automotive industry, including engagements with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and other industry stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Chua-Lim has taken on expanded responsibilities beyond leading Toyota Motor Philippines' marketing division. In addition to his current role in sales and logistics, he now has oversight of the company's aftersales and value chain operations, bringing together several key business functions under his leadership. The expanded portfolio places Chua-Lim at the helm of much of TMP's day-to-day commercial operations, covering everything from vehicle distribution and sales to customer support, parts supply, and logistics.

With Atienza concentrating on industry affairs and Chua-Lim overseeing a wider range of business operations, the company positions itself to address both policy developments and the growing demands of the local market.
