Sinotruk is preparing to electrify its commercial vehicle lineup in the Philippines, leaning into the global sustainability roadmap set by its parent company, Shandong Heavy Industry Group. The push follows Shandong Heavy Industry's "Technology Empowers, Equipment Enriches" Global Partners Conference held in Hanoi, Vietnam, where the group emphasized its transition from exporting physical products to exporting comprehensive industrial capabilities.

From repair shop to China's top heavy truck exporter

Sinotruk, which traces its origins back to 1930 as a 30-person repair shop, has evolved into a global commercial vehicle powerhouse. After producing China's first heavy-duty truck in 1960 and forging key technical partnerships with European giants like Steyr, Volvo, and MAN, the manufacturer now exports over 150,000 units annually across 150 countries. Its manufacturing operations reflect this scale, with its automated tractor assembly plant utilizing 220 precision robots and 170 automated guided vehicles to roll off a completed truck every five minutes.

Long-term vision for the Philippine market

In the Philippines, Sinotruk has maintained a strong presence since establishing operations in 2011. Known primarily for its HOWO range of dump trucks, tractor heads, concrete mixers, and cargo trucks, the brand has held the top position in the local heavy-duty segment for several consecutive years.

To back up its fleet, the commercial brand operates an extensive local support network anchored by its "Three-One" service policy. Under this framework, customer inquiries receive an initial response within one hour, a problem diagnosis within one day, and standard fault repairs within one week. This after-sales system is bolstered by 70 dealerships nationwide—38 in Luzon, 20 in the Visayas, and 12 in Mindanao—alongside ongoing technical training programs to ensure minimal downtime for transport operators.

As part of its next growth phase, Sinotruk is shifting focus toward green mobility, riding the wave of new energy technology across its global markets. The planned expansion into electric commercial vehicles aims to support the local logistics and transport sector's transition toward low-emission operations while solidifying Sinotruk's long-term commitment to the Philippine market.
