Nissan Primera EV gets LTO approval; PH launch soon?
Nissan is getting ready to reveal the Primera EV after securing LTO homologation
Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) is all set to reveal the new Kicks e-Power on August 28 at the Glorietta Mall. With the hybrid B-SUV expected to be available in four variants, the refreshed Kicks e-Power will feature a redesigned exterior, a more high-tech cabin, and more safety features to keep occupants safe while on the road.
But where is the Primera EV, which was also previewed at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS)? Well, it might also be getting ready for its Philippine debut soon.
Aside from getting recognition from the Department of Energy (DOE) as an EV, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has just released homologation documents for the upcoming Nissan Primera. Also called the N7 in China, the Primera will serve as Nissan's sleek flagship EV and will take on the likes of the BYD Seal EV.

Based on a recent Memorandum Circular, the Nissan Primera will have a maximum range of up to 500 km and a maximum power output of 160 kW or 218 PS. In addition, it will have a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that supports both AC charging and DC charging, with the latter having a claimed recharge time of only 19 minutes.
Size-wise, the Primera EV measures 4930mm long, 1895mm wide, and 1487mm tall on a 2915mm wheelbase. It also has a curb weight of 1,879 kg and comes with 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/45 series tires.
Based on the LTO specifications, they closely resemble the specs that were mentioned by the DOE earlier this year. It has a single electric motor that drives the front wheels and makes 218 PS with 305 Nm of torque. It has a battery capacity of 60 kWh, which translates to a range of up to 500 km.

When it comes to features and amenities, the Primera will be available with power-adjustable front seats with memory function, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 12-speaker sound system, and a host of intelligent driver aids via the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of ADAS.
There is no exact timeline yet as to when the Primera EV will be launched in the Philippines. But given that it has already secured LTO and DOE approvals, it might not be long before the flagship EV makes its official debut.
