MIAS 2026: BYD previews Sealion 7, Atto 2 EVs for PH
BYD Cars PH brings its A-game at MIAS 2026 with Sealion 7 EV
BYD Cars Philippines pulled one heck of a surprise at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). While we already spotted it on the Department of Energy’s (DOE) list of recognized EVs, we weren’t expecting the brand to reveal them right away.
Revealed at the World Trade Center Manila are the BYD Sealion 7 and Atto 2. The former is an all-electric midsize crossover SUV that has sports car-like performance and serves as the sleeker and more dynamic EV twin of the Sealion 6. Meanwhile, the Atto 2 is the B-SUV EV offering of the brand that will slot below the Atto 3.

While official specifications have yet to be revealed, the DOE has already listed some of the EV models' specifications. Starting with the Sealion 7, it has an 82.56 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack and two electric motors that deliver a combined 390 kW or 530 PS and a whopping 690 Nm of torque. BYD claims that from a standstill, the Sealion 7 can hit 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 215 km/h. On a full charge, BYD says the AWD EV can cover more than 540 km, based on the NEDC cycle.

The Sealion 7 supports both AC and DC fast charging, with the former capable of supporting up to 11 kW, while the latter can do up to 150 kW. When hooked up to an 11 kW AC charger, the Sealion 7’s battery can be recharged from 0 to 100% in about 8 hours. When connected to a 150 kW DC charger, however, the Sealion 7’s battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in just 35 minutes. A 50 kW DC charger can also recharge its battery from 10% to 80% in about 73 minutes.
Size-wise, the Sealion 7 measures 4830mm long, 1925mm wide, 1620mm tall, and has a generous 2930mm wheelbase. Its rolling stock is massive 20-inch alloy wheels with a two-tone finish, and is wrapped in 245/50 series tires. The Sealion 7 also has a front double wishbone/multi-link rear suspension, drilled & ventilated front disc brakes, and rear ventilated disc brakes.

In terms of looks, the BYD Sealion 7 is a mix of two vehicles, the Sealion 6 and the Seal EV. The front fascia is largely inspired by the former, with its distinct LED taillights that are accompanied by fang-like LED daytime running lights and a sporty front bumper.
It is then completed by a sleek coupe-like roofline that tapers towards the rear, resulting in a dynamic appearance that is contrasted by SUV-like wheel arches with black body cladding. Then there’s the Seal-like rear, which comes with full-width LED taillights, a tailgate spoiler, and a rear bumper with an integrated diffuser for better aerodynamics.

Hop inside, and the Sealion 7 welcomes occupants into a double-layered dashboard, complete with high-resolution displays and ambient lighting. A 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment display comes as standard, and comes with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. The infotainment system is then complemented by a 12-speaker Dynaudio system.
Also present inside the Sealion 7 is a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, full-leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats with memory function for the driver, ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, a power tailgate, soundproof windshield and front side windows, USB-C & USB-A charging ports, automatic dual-zone climate control, and an NFC card key.

Up next is the BYD Atto 2, which will serve as the brand's smallest and most affordable electric crossover yet. It measures 4310mm long, 1830mm wide, and 1675mm tall. It also has a 2620mm wheelbase, a ground clearance of 150mm, and 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/65 series tires.
Powering the Atto 2 is a single electric motor that’s available in two states of tune. The Dynamic variant puts out 70 kW or 95 PS with 180 Nm of torque, while the Premium version generates 130 kW or 177 PS and a whopping 290 Nm of torque. The Dynamic gets a 32 kWh battery pack, which gives the EV a range of up to 280 km, while the Premium is equipped with a 45.12 kWh battery, which translates to a range of up to 380 km.

Recharging the Atto 2 can be done via an AC or fast DC charger, with the latter supporting up to 7 kW. On the other hand, the Atto 2 Dynamic supports up to 45 kW of DC charging, while the Atto 2 Premium gets a bit more with up to 65 kW. Both variants also come with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) support to power up appliances and other devices during a blackout.

When it comes to amenities, the Atto 2 is available with either a 10.1 or 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen media display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has an intelligent voice assistant, a digital instrument panel, USB-A and USB-C charging ports for the front & rear passengers, automatic climate control, keyless entry, a power-adjustable driver’s seat (Premium only), leather upholstery, and 60:40 split rear seats.
Reservations for the BYD Sealion 7 are now open and will be available to customers by the end of May 2026. Meanwhile, the Atto 2 is set to be launched at a later date within the year.
