BYD’s smallest and most affordable crossover SUV yet has officially been launched in the country.

This comes after BYD Cars Philippines distributor ACMobility revealed the Atto 2 at Ayala Malls Trinoma in Quezon City. It slots below the Atto 3, but unlike the former, which is only available as an electric vehicle (EV), the newly-launched Atto2 is also available with the brand’s Super DM-i plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology.

That’s right, customers can choose between pure EV and PHEV powertrains in the BYD Atto 2. Beginning with the Atto 2 EV, it gets a 45.1 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery that powers a front electric motor, which puts out 177 PS and 290 Nm of torque. On a full charge, BYD says the Atto 2 EV can cover up to 380 km, based on the NEDC standard.

The Atto 2 EV supports both CCS2 65 kW DC charging and Type 2 7 kW AC charging. BYD claims the former can recharge the Atto 2 EV from 10% to 80% in around 40 minutes, while the latter can fully replenish the crossover’s battery from 0% to 100% in about 7.4 hours.

Prefer the PHEV version? The Atto 2 DM-i combines a 1.5L four-cylinder generator, a 7.9 kWh LFP battery, and a single electric motor that puts out 165 PS with 300 Nm of torque that drives the front wheels. On battery power alone, BYD says the Atto 2 DM-i can cover up to 45 km, based on the NEDC cycle. However, its combined system range is rated to cover up to 1,045 km. The Atto 2 DM-i PHEV only comes with Type 2 AC charging that’s rated at 3.3 kW, resulting in a recharge time of 2 hours from 15% to 100%.

Size-wise, the Atto 2 measures 4330mm long (4310mm for the Atto 2 DM-i), 1830mm wide, and 1675mm tall on a 2620mm wheelbase. It also has a ground clearance of up to 160mm, and both the EV and PHEV come with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function to power up devices during a blackout.

When it comes to amenities, the Premium versions of the Atto 2 EV and PHEV come with a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Meanwhile, the Dynamic version of the Atto 2 PHEV gets a smaller 10.1-inch touchscreen media display but also comes with the wireless connectivity features.
