Look out Denza B5: GAC Yue 7 is a 4x4 PHEV built for off-road
GAC reveals its Denza B5 fighter called the Yue 7
BYD's luxury brand Denza may want to keep a close eye on the rearview mirror after GAC announced it will be joining the luxury 4x4 SUV market with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model of its own.
Set to make its debut in Q3 2026 is the GAC Yue 7, and it has the likes of the Denza B5 at its crosshairs. It's a massive body-on-frame that measures over 5 meters long and has the hallmarks of an electrified SUV that can take on the road less traveled. It features a boxy exterior that's complemented by prominent wheel arches, a Defender-like front fascia, and a swing-out tailgate with a spare tire carrier.

Based on its initial specifications released by the PRC's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the GAC Yue 7 will measure 5045mm long, 2030mm wide, and 1933mm tall on a 2900mm wheelbase. Moreover, the Yue 7 will have a unibody construction with enhanced off-road capabilities.
GAC claims that despite having three wheels up in the air while going off-road, the Yue 7 can still deliver traction on one wheel with ease, thanks to the i-4WD all-wheel drive system. The brand also claimed the vehicle can multiply its torque up to five times when in crawl mode, thanks to its powerful electric motors.
Speaking of electric motors, let's talk about its electrified powertrain. Under the hood, the GAC Yue 7 has a 1.5L turbocharged engine that serves as an onboard generator and makes 125 kW or 170 PS. Driving the wheels, however, are a pair of electric motors that deliver a combined 400 kW or 544 PS.

Two battery options are available for the GAC Yue 7: 28.3 kWh and 46 kWh. The former delivers up to 116 km of range, while the latter is rated to give the Yue 7 up to 188 km of EV range. Compared to the Denza B5, which has a claimed 100 km of EV range, the Yue 7 can cover an additional 88 km without using a drop of fuel.
Other details about the GAC Yue 7 have yet to be revealed. But with a launch set for Q3 2026, we may find out more about it in the coming months. Should GAC Philippines bring the Yue 7 here in the not-so-distant future?
