Kia Philippines distributor ACMobility is wasting no time expanding its lineup of electrified models. While they already revealed the EV5 at this year's Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), the brand is set to launch its latest hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) in the form of the all-new Sportage Turbo Hybrid.

But if you thought Kia Philippines is done with vehicle launches, they still have several more on the way. In fact, do you remember when Kia Philippines announced that the EV3 and the PV5 electric vehicles (EVs) will be coming to PH before the end of 2026? Well, one of them has already been recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE), indicating that it may be coming real soon.

That's right, the Kia EV3 has just appeared on the DOE's list of recognized EVs, and it looks like there will be a total of two variants. Just like the EV5, the EV3 that has been listed by the agency will be offered in GL and GLS variants.

Based on the initial specifications, both the GL and GLS will get a 58.3 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor that puts out 150 kW or 204 PS. Meanwhile, exterior dimensions come in at 4300mm long, 1850mm wide, and 1560mm tall on a 2680mm wheelbase. It also has a minimum ground clearance of 140mm and an approach/departure angle of 17.2 degrees and 22.2 degrees, respectively.

Looking at what other markets get, the Kia EV3 fitted with the 58.3 kWh lithium-ion battery gives it a range of up to 436 km, based on the WLTP cycle. Meanwhile, the electric motor also generates 283 Nm of torque. As far as recharging is concerned, the EV3 supports up to 11 kW of AC charging and up to 350 kW when hooked up to a fast DC charger. The former can recharge the EV3 from 10% to 100% in just over 5 hours, while the latter can replenish the EV3 from 10% to 80% in around 29 minutes.

When it comes to cabin features, the EV3 is available with a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays. One serves as the instrument panel, while the other is the touchscreen infotainment display. It also has an intelligent voice system called Kia Assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a floating center console, a wireless charging pad, and more.

With the Kia EV already getting DOE recognition, perhaps this might be Kia's next big launch after the Sportage Hybrid. The only question now is, when can we expect Kia to reveal it?
