Omoda Jaecoo Motor Philippines (OJPH) has revealed its latest electric vehicle (EV). After making its first public appearance at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), the Jaecoo J5 EV has officially been launched for the Philippine market.

Launched after the J5 HEV, the J5 EV serves as the zero-emissions version of the brand's B-SUV, but comes with a long list of features at a very competitive price.

Beginning with its design, the J5 EV largely resembles the J5 HEV with its Range Rover-inspired exterior. From the sleek LED daytime running lights & headlights to the dynamic wraparound LED taillights, as well as the 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels wrapped in 235/55 series tires, the J5 EV is stylish and eye-catching. But unlike the J5 HEV, which comes with a distinct grille, the J5 EV features a closed-off grille and a front charging port on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Size-wise, the J5 EV measures 4380mm long, 1860mm wide, and 1650mm tall on a 2620mm wheelbase. It also has up to 184mm of ground clearance (166mm when laden), a water wading depth of up to 450mm, and a luggage capacity of up to 480 liters with the rear seats deployed.

Open the doors, and those familiar with the J5 EV's cabin will find a familiar-looking interior. Immediately grabbing your attention is the massive 13.2-inch tablet-like touchscreen infotainment display. It supports wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and manages most of the in-car features. Meanwhile, the driver is treated to a digital instrument panel with soft-wrapped padding.

Other available amenities present inside the J5 EV include an all-black interior, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic glass roof, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a reverse camera with a 540-degree camera system, a power tailgate, and multi-color ambient lighting.

Powering the Jaecoo J5 EV is a 58.9 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which delivers a range of up to 461 km, based on the NEDC standard. However, a recent endurance test hosted by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) saw the J5 EV achieve a range of up to 539 km on a single charge under ideal conditions, exceeding the NEDC range. A single electric motor drives the front wheels and delivers 155 kW or 210 PS and 288 Nm of torque.

The J5 EV supports 6.6 kW AC charging and up to 130 kW of DC fast charging. When connected to the latter, Jaecoo says the J5 EV can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes. From a standstill, Jaecoo says the J5 EV can hit 100 km/h in only 7.7 seconds.

For extra peace of mind, the Jaecoo J5 EV comes with an array of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS). This gives the J5 EV intelligent driver aids, such as adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist, lane-change assist, blind-spot detection, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, and rear-cross traffic alert with rear-cross traffic braking.

The Jaecoo J5 EV is covered by a 7-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty, plus an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty for the battery and electric motor, whichever comes first. Also included is a free 7kW wallbox charger for every purchase of the Jaecoo J5 EV.

The Jaecoo J5 EV is yours for PHP 1.399 million.
