Jaecoo J5 EV now on DOE's list of recognized electric vehicles
OJPH teases J5 EV ahead of its official launch
Omoda Jaecoo Motor Philippines (OJPH) had one heck of a reveal at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) when they launched the Jaecoo J5 HEV. With a starting price of less than a million Pesos, the hybrid B-SUV attracted plenty of interest from customers (and perhaps reservations) from those who want an affordable, stylish, and feature-packed crossover.
But if you thought OJPH is resting on its laurels, the automaker is busy preparing for yet another launch. This comes after the brand released a teaser image of its latest vehicle. Unlike the J5 HEV, the mystery vehicle will be an electric vehicle (EV), based on the teaser picture OJHP released.

Despite the automaker not yet fully revealing what it will be, it looks like the Jaecoo J5 EV is about to make its Philippine debut. Heck, the Department of Energy (DOE) recently updated its list of recognized EVs and has included the J5 EV.
Based on the listing, the J5 EV will be powered by a 58.9 kWh battery pack and will be available in two distinct variants: Standard & Max. On a full charge, the 58.9 kWh battery delivers up to 461 km of range and powers a single electric motor that drives the front wheels. It makes 155 kW or 210 PS with 288 Nm of torque and can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. Moreover, the battery supports both AC and DC fast charging, with the former rated at 6.6 kW while the latter is rated up to 130 kW, which can recharge the battery from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes.

Size-wise, the J5 EV will measure 4380mm long, 1860mm wide, and 1650mm tall on a 2620mm wheelbase. It also has a minimum ground clearance of 184mm and a water wading depth of up to 450mm. Last but not least, the J5 EV also has a departure angle of 29.8 degrees and an approach angle of 20 degrees.
Other key features of the upcoming J5 EV will include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof, a power tailgate, a wireless charging pad, a pair of digital displays for the instrument panel and touchscreen infotainment system, and a host of intelligent driver aids.

With the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) only a month away, perhaps we can expect OJPH to hold the official launch on June 4. For now, we're curious as to what the starting price of the Jaecoo J5 EV will be once it's revealed.
