Hyundai PH recalls 123 units of Palisade HEV over seat folding issue
Recall issued following tragic seat fold incident that resulted in the death of a two-year-old kid in the US

Hyundai Motor Philippines has an important recall that affects 123 units of the all-new Palisade HEV.
The recall was made as safety issues surfaced on the Palisade’s second and third row power seat folding function, which is unable to detect if a person or object is pinched and stuck during its operation.

It is part of a global recall following a tragic incident in the United States, where a two-year old kid died after getting suffocated in the folded second row seat of the Palisade. Similar seat-folding issues have also resulted in injuries in separate complaints, along with intermittent operation from the fold-flat function.

Hyundai Motor Philippines will conduct a software update for the affected units of the Palisade, which will disable the power seat folding function on the infotainment screen, as well as a long press and hold action on the 2nd and 3rd row seat buttons to enable folding and unfolding functions. Other software improvements not included in the DTI announcement include requiring the tailgate to be open to use the fold-flat function.
Affected owners are encouraged to coordinate with authorized Hyundai dealerships to schedule the necessary update. This update will be done at no cost to the owner. For inquiries, contact Hyundai Customer Care at (02) 8868-8000 or (0917) 868-9000.
