Hyundai Staria HEV launches in PH next week

Hyundai Staria HEV launches in PH next week
Hyundai Motor PH set to reveal its latest electrified offering on July 9
After getting recognition from the Department of Energy (DOE) as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), it looks like Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) is just about ready to reveal its latest electrified vehicle.
Recently, HMPH posted a teaser for what appears to be a new Staria model. The teaser also said that “Premium space is about to get smarter” and that customers can expect “an experience that will elevate every journey”. Based on those words alone, the upcoming Staria HEV is about to make its Philippine debut next week at Alabang Town Center.

While the automaker has yet to reveal its specifications, we already have info about its possible specifications, thanks to the DOE. According to the agency's listings, the upcoming Staria HEV may be available in multiple variants, including 1.6T HEV 9S, 1.6T HEV Premium Plus 7S, 1.6T HEV Premium 9S, 1.6T HEV GL 9S, and 1.6T HEV GL 11S.
Based on those variant names, the electrified Staria will likely be offered in 7-, 9-, and 11-seater variants and may all come with a 1.6L turbo hybrid powertrain that's shared with the Hyundai Santa Fe HEV, as well as its cousins from Kia like the Sorento HEV and the Carnival HEV.

In Korea, the Staria HEV's 1.6L turbo-hybrid system generates a combined 245 PS with 367 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a 6-speed automatic transmission and is available in FWD and AWD variants.
With the Hyundai Staria HEV set to make its Philippine debut on July 9, 2026, we're curious if HMPH plans to offer the MPV solely with a turbo-hybrid powertrain. After all, the current Staria models still use a 2.2L turbo-diesel powertrain, which makes 177 PS with 431 Nm of torque and can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Hyundai's newest offering will make its official debut on Thursday, July 9, at Alabang Town Center.
