Goodwood Festival of Speed to make US debut with 2028 event at Willow Springs
Celebrating the long-standing connection between British and American motorsport
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is heading stateside.
For the first time in its more than 30-year history, the iconic British motoring event will stage a headline event outside the United Kingdom with the launch of the Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC) of America. The inaugural gathering is scheduled for Fall 2028 at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California.

Since its inception in 1993, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has evolved from a hill climb on the Goodwood Estate into one of the world's premier automotive events. Every year, it attracts more than 200,000 enthusiasts and showcases everything from vintage race cars and Formula 1 machinery to the latest supercars, hypercars, and concept vehicles.

Willow Springs was selected as the venue for Goodwood's American debut thanks to its rich motorsport heritage. Opened in 1953, it is one of the oldest permanent road racing circuits in the U.S. and has hosted countless racing events over the decades.

"The launch of the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America is a defining moment for us," said The Duke of Richmond. "For almost 30 years, the GRRC has been at the heart of everything we do at Goodwood, bringing together a wonderfully diverse community united by a shared passion for cars and motorsport. We believe that same spirit will resonate with enthusiasts across the United States."
The expansion also celebrates the long-standing connection between British and American motorsport, particularly during the golden era of road racing in the 1950s and 1960s. To mark the occasion, racing legends Sir Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti, and Richard Petty have been named founding members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America.

Goodwood has yet to reveal the full program for the 2028 event, although it is expected to carry many of the elements that have made the Festival of Speed a global attraction, including iconic competition cars, road-going performance machines, renowned drivers, and manufacturer displays.

Membership applications for the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America will open in January 2027, allowing enthusiasts to become part of the community ahead of the inaugural event.

With Goodwood finally crossing the Atlantic, American enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing one of the automotive world's most celebrated festivals on home soil for the very first time.
