Chery Stockman diesel PHEV confirmed for Philippine market
UAAGI confirms Chery Stockman diesel PHEV pickup is coming to PH
The BYD Shark 6 will want to watch its rearview mirror soon in the Philippine market. Besides being confirmed for the Australian market earlier this year, Chery's turbo-diesel plug-in hybrid pickup truck is also set to arrive in the Philippines soon.
This was officially confirmed by United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) Chairman Rommel Sytin. While no official specifications have been revealed so far, the Chery Stockman for the Philippine market will likely be the same as the one Australia will get.

Unlike most PHEV pickup trucks that use monocoque-based chassis, the Chery Stockman sticks to the tried-and-tested ladder frame chassis. With its high-strength steel construction, it can take on the road less traveled with ease and can easily tow heavy cargo with ease. It also comes with double wishbones with coil springs in the front and rear leaf springs in the back to ensure its cargo-carrying abilities are up to scratch.
Also ensured are its 4x4 capabilities, which were made possible thanks to a part-time 4WD system that's assisted by front, center, and rear-locking differentials. This means the Chery Stockman can easily take on the toughest off-road conditions and even comes with all-terrain tires as standard.

At the heart of the Chery Stockman is a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 2.5L turbo-diesel engine that's assisted by an electric motor and a high-capacity battery pack. Chery claims the Stockman has a combined system output of 350 kW or 476 PS and a healthy 800 Nm of torque. Not only does this allow the Stockman to power through anything, but it also gives the Stockman the ability to have a braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg.
More importantly, the automaker says the Stockman can cover up to 100 km on battery power alone, based on the NEDC standard. Chery has yet to announce its total system range, but we won't be surprised if it's over 1,000 km, given its turbo-diesel engine.

Size-wise, the Stockman measures 5450mm long, 2010mm wide, and 1890mm tall on a 3250mm wheelbase. Meanwhile, the rear bed measures 1560mm long, 1560mm wide, and 500mm tall. Last but not least, it has a ground clearance of up to 247mm.
With the Chery Stockman turbo-diesel PHEV already confirmed for the Philippines, we hope to find out more details about the electrified pickup from Chery Auto Philippines soon.
