VinFast giving trade-in discounts for vehicle owners switching from ICE to EV

Amid continued volatility in global fuel prices, Vingroup has launched its “Trade Gas for Electric” program aimed at accelerating the shift to electric mobility across Vietnam, India, Indonesia, and of course, the Philippines.

Under the initiative, customers who switch from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric models from VinFast will receive additional discounts on top of existing incentives, including 3% off electric cars and 5% off electric scooters during the program period. The offer is being implemented simultaneously across all four markets.

Complementing the program, GSM Green and Smart Mobility have also reduced fares for its electric ride-hailing services. Users of the Xanh SM platform in Vietnam, as well as Green SM in Indonesia, will benefit from a 10% fare reduction from March 11 to March 31, 2026. The move is intended to provide a more affordable and environmentally friendly transport option amid rising fuel costs.

A similar fare discount for the Philippines has yet to be announced.

The company said the program may be extended depending on global developments and fuel price movements. It added that the initiative forms part of a broader effort to cushion consumers from the impact of high fuel prices while promoting cleaner transport alternatives.

Free charging until March 31, 2029

VinFast Philippines has announced that it will offer free, unlimited charging at all V-Green charging stations to its customers until March 31, 2029, or roughly three years and two weeks from now. That’s a long stretch of worry-free charging for every motorist behind the wheel of a VinFast.

VinFast said the free charging initiative reflects its commitment to support Filipinos amid rising fuel costs, while making the shift to electric mobility more accessible and cost-effective.
