When we first saw the all-new Denza Z9 earlier this year when the brand previewed it, we were all awestruck with its shooting brake design. More importantly, the Z9 has just been recognized by the Department of Energy as an electric vehicle (EV). This means it might not be long before Denza Philippines holds the official debut of the Z9.

Over in China, however, Denza has just revealed the sedan version of the Z9, and just like the shooting brake, it's a looker. Say hello to the Denza Z9S, and it's essentially the saloon variant of Denza's flagship luxury EV.

While it looks shorter in terms of length, the Denza Z9S retains the Z9 GT's sleek and dynamic appearance that makes it stand out from the rest. From the eye-catching LED daytime running lights to the massive intakes on the front bumper, as well as the massive 19-inch alloy wheels, the Z9S is not shy about borrowing some styling cues from its shooting brake sibling.

But what truly makes the Z9S unique is its sportier proportions. Measuring 5090mm long, 1980mm wide, and 1490mm tall on a 3025mm wheelbase, the Z9S is 145mm shorter in length, 10mm narrower, 28mm shorter in height, and has a 100mm shorter wheelbase compared to the Z9 GT. We're curious to know just how dynamic it is on the road or on the track given its shorter dimensions.

Based on information released by the PRC's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Z9S will be available with either a single electric motor or a tri-motor version with AWD. The former puts out 370 kW or 503 PS and is paired to a 102.3 kWh battery pack, which gives it a range of up to 920 km, based on the CLTC standard.

Next is the more powerful tri-motor variant, which delivers a combined 890 kW or 1,210 PS and is powered by a similar 102.3 kWh battery. However, this model is rated to only cover around 780 km on the CLTC cycle.

We have yet to see pictures of the cabin, but the Denza Z9S does come with a LiDAR sensor on the roof. This likely means it has the God's Eye B suite of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS). This means features like intelligent cruise control with traffic jam assist, autonomous navigation, lane-change assist with lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, and self-parking capability will likely be available in the Z9S.

With the Denza Z9S set to be available in China, those who would prefer a traditional sedan may opt for the Z9S instead of the shooting brake Z9 GT. Could this also mean the Z9S may be offered by Denza Philippines in the not-so-distant future?
