It's one thing to see Japanese cars in their domestic market, but it's another thing to see them wearing police colors, complete with the sirens and blinkers.

While we've had our fair share of seeing Nissan GT-Rs, Acura NSXs, and even regular cars wearing the police liveries in Tokyo, one prefectural police force in Japan just received two new vehicles, and it's something we weren't expecting to perform police duties.

Recently, the Tochigi Prefectural Police was given two brand new Toyota vehicles as a donation: a Hilux pickup truck and a Land Cruiser Prado 250. The vehicles were immediately put in active duty and were already seen wearing the signature black and white liveries, complete with the blinkers, sirens, and other police-related equipment.

All well and good, but some of you may be wondering why the Tochigi Prefectural Police received a pickup truck and SUVs as police cars. Well, that's because the Tochigi Prefecture is a heavily mountainous area, which means the police will need rugged vehicles to do their patrols and operations. In fact, the Tochigi Prefectural Police mentioned that they will use the new Land Cruiser 250 and Hilux vehicles for mountain security, as well as for rescue operations.

If you happen to be visiting the Tochigi Prefecture, don't be surprised to see the local police using the brand new Toyota Hilux and Land Cruiser 250 on patrol.
