A very special edition Mercedes-AMG has just been revealed, and only a lucky few will get their hands on it.

“Spezialanfertigung” means “custom-made” or “special production,” and Mercedes-AMG takes that concept to the extreme with the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung.

Hand-built in Affalterbach, the ultra-exclusive coupe is the second model in Mercedes-Benz’s Mythos series, following the AMG PureSpeed. Based on the CLE 53, it transforms into a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive performance machine focused squarely on driving dynamics.

Under the hood is an enhanced 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 646 PS and 850 Nm. Power goes exclusively to the rear wheels through a nine-speed AMG Speedshift TCT transmission, sending the coupe from 0–200 km/h in 11.4 seconds before reaching a 310-km/h top speed.

Extensive weight-saving measures cut around 170 kilograms, with carbon-fiber components, the removal of the rear seats and acoustic insulation, and other lightweight construction. The body also gets a wider track, reinforced structure, integrated roll-over bar, and bespoke aerodynamics, including a manually adjustable front diffuser, fender louvers, underbody aero, and a large fixed rear wing.

The chassis features four-way adjustable coilovers developed with KW Automotive, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and AMG ceramic brakes with upgraded cooling. Its rear-wheel-drive layout and specially calibrated launch control are also designed to allow controlled oversteer and drifting.

Inside, the road-legal performance coupe adopts a motorsport-focused layout with lightweight racing bucket seats, carbon-fiber door panels, a roll-over bar, and fewer comfort and driver-assistance features.

Limited to just 30 examples, all units were sold ahead of the full reveal. Hand-built in Affalterbach, the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung represents Mercedes-AMG’s most extreme interpretation yet of the CLE and another exclusive chapter in the Mythos series.
