Exciting news has surfaced directly from the Nürburgring as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) continues to expand its flagship family. With a global launch imminent in the next few months, a less-camouflaged prototype of the upcoming Range Rover GT has arrived at the famous German circuit, giving auto enthusiasts a much clearer look at the brand’s upcoming grand tourer.

Engineers were spotted putting the prototype through high-speed dynamic evaluation alongside a mix of industry benchmarks and internal test mules, including the BMW iX3, Audi Q6, and two early prototypes of the upcoming "Baby Defender."

Positioned explicitly as a luxury grand tourer, the Range Rover GT represents a significant departure from traditional, tall-stanced luxury SUVs. The newcomer blends a lower, sleek fastback silhouette with coupé proportions, while still promising to retain Range Rover's signature high-command driving position and off-road capability.

Underneath the sleek bodywork, the GT serves as a major technological milestone for JLR. It is the very first vehicle built on the company's new Electric Modular Architecture.

While no photos were provided, our spies described the cabin as "featuring a highly minimalist, 'warm and reductive' design. It eliminates physical buttons in favor of a central 13-inch OLED touchscreen, a digital driver display, a heads-up display, and hidden-until-lit technology integrated directly into the architecture."

When it officially hits the market, the Range Rover GT will launch initially as a Battery Electric Vehicle. However, recognizing the evolving global market demands for propulsion flexibility, JLR plans to integrate a full Hybrid Electric Vehicle variant into the lineup later in the model’s lifecycle.

Early information points to it being powered by an advanced 800-volt electrical system, which is engineered to support ultra-fast DC charging speeds of up to 350kW for 30-minute charge times from 10% to 80%.
