New York 2018: Jaguar F-Pace SVR gets a healthy dose of performance
Jaguar enters high-performance crossover crowd with 550 PS F-Pace SVR
The Jaguar F-Pace may be the brand's first crossover but it didn't take that long for them to give it a high-performance version. The British luxury marque has given the F-Pace the SVR treatment, meaning more power, enhanced handling and more aggression.
Jaguar's first attempt in the sports car baiting crossover crowd comes courtesy of the F-Type SVR's engine. The F-Pace SVR gets the same engine as the low slung coupe, meaning 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque from its supercharged 5.0-liter V8. It then shifts via an eight-speed automatic transmission and sends power to all four wheels. Jaguar claims that, from a standstill, the F-Pace SVR can reach 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. Jaguar adds that the top speed is rated at 283 km/h.

Separating the F-Pace SVR from its lesser-powered counterparts are the unique additions and modifications to the body. For starters, the bumper is set lower with a flatter front apron. Large corner air intakes then dominate the bumper. The hood on the other hand gets a pair of vents which, according to Jaguar, are functional. Wider front fenders with air outlets wrap up the changes to the front.
No chrome is present on the exterior of the high-riding Jag. Instead, it gets gloss black highlights around the window frames and more. The rear fender has also been widened to make way for the specially tuned suspension. At the back, air outlets are seen on each corner of the bumper. A longer roof spoiler aims to add more directional stability, along with the integrated diffusers at the bottom. The Jaguar F-Pace SVR rides on 21-inch alloy wheels as standard.

The cabin design is largely lifted from the standard F-Pace, save for more sporting details. Instead of wood, the F-Pace SVR gets carbon fiber trimmings on the dash, doors and center console. A fully leather padded dash is also standard on the sportiest F-Pace. Body-hugging sport seats feature more bolstering, along with the signature lozenge quilting and embossed SVR logo. The most significant change to the interior is its gear selector. Gone is the rotary dial selector and in its place is a more conventional shifter which Jaguar calls 'Pistol Grip'.
