McLaren Automotive has introduced the new 788HS, a limited-production supercar that serves as the final and most extreme evolution of its acclaimed Supercar Series, which includes the 720S, 765LT, and 750S. Production is limited to just 200 examples worldwide and is split evenly between Coupe and Spider variants.

The HS, or "High Sport," badge is one of the rarest designations in McLaren's history, previously appearing only on the MP4-12C HS and the MSO HS. Every 788HS will also be individually commissioned through McLaren Special Operations (MSO), allowing customers to personalize their cars with bespoke finishes and details.

Power comes from a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 producing 788 PS and 800 Nm of torque. The engine revs to 8,500 rpm and, combined with a dry weight of just 1,265 kg, gives the 788HS a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 614 PS per tonne. McLaren claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of 2.8 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 7.0 seconds, and a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).

The 788HS also features the most comprehensive aerodynamic package ever fitted to this platform. Carbon fiber components include a larger front splitter, S-duct hood, raised active rear wing, Formula 1-inspired rear diffuser, and a louvered underwing panel. Together, these increase downforce by 10 percent compared to the 765LT.

Chassis upgrades include bespoke tuning for McLaren's Proactive Chassis Control III suspension, a front ride height lowered by 5 mm, Senna-derived carbon-ceramic brakes, and center-lock forged alloy wheels, a first for the Supercar Series.

Inside, the cabin receives lightweight carbon fiber trim, unique HS branding, and a bespoke plaque identifying each car. A quad-exit titanium exhaust system and revised intake and exhaust sound symposers are also designed to deliver a more immersive V8 soundtrack.

According to McLaren, the 788HS was developed to offer the most engaging driving experience of any model in the Supercar Series while celebrating the end of a lineage that began with the 720S. As only the third McLaren to wear the coveted HS badge, it represents the brand's most focused expression of the platform before the next generation takes over.
