LOOK: Are you the all-new BYD Seagull?
It appears BYD is already busy with the next-generation Seagull
It looks like we can expect an all-new BYD Seagull to debut soon.
Despite first being launched in 2023 and arriving in the Philippines in Q3 2024, BYD has been quite busy with the Seagull (we also got to review it in 2025). Not only did BYD give it an update in 2026, but they also gave their smallest EV some high-tech upgrades, including the God's Eye ADAS features to make it safer on the road. But like most Chinese automakers, they refuse to rest on their laurels, and it appears they're already preparing to release the next-generation Seagull EV.
Recently, the PRC's Ministry of Industry & Information Technology (MIIT) released new images of what looks to be the next-generation BYD Seagull. Based on the initial photos and specifications, the all-new electric hatchback will become bigger and more stylish.
While it may still sit on the same platform, BYD gave the all-new Seagull one heck of a growth spurt, thanks to its larger dimensions. Based on initial data, the new Seagull now measures 4205mm long, 1810mm wide, and 1570mm tall on a 2650mm wheelbase. In comparison, the current Seagull measures 3780mm long, 1715mm wide, 1540mm tall, and has a 2500mm wheelbase. Given its larger size, the Seagull is now as big as its closest sibling, the Dolphin.

Style-wise, the Seagull features a more dynamic appearance compared to the current version. It gets a sleeker pair of LED headlights, a sportier-looking front bumper, bigger alloy wheels, a new set of LED taillights, a bigger tailgate, and a more aggressive rear bumper.
Powering the all-new BYD Seagull is a more powerful electric motor, which puts out 95 kW or 129 PS. In comparison, the current Seagull in the Philippine market makes use of a 55 kW or 75 PS electric motor. Battery size has yet to be revealed, although we won't be surprised if it gets the bigger 38.88 kWh battery pack as standard, which gives the current Seagull a range of up to 405 km.
With the BYD Seagull set to become all-new in its latest generation, we're hoping to find more information about the upcoming electric hatchback closer to its official launch. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the launch will happen very soon.
