Audi is bringing back one of its most famous badges with a fully electric twist. The German automaker has officially unveiled the Audi A2 e-tron, an entry-level EV built at its home plant in Ingolstadt. Designed primarily for European buyers, the new compact vehicle places extreme efficiency, practical space, and everyday usability right at the center of its identity.

The A2 nameplate originally became famous for its quirky, lightweight design. This new electric successor carries that spirit into the modern era by claiming the title of the most energy-efficient Audi model ever made. It records an impressive energy consumption rate of just 12.8 kWh per 100 km on the WLTP cycle. A massive part of that thriftiness comes down to its slick bodywork, which achieves a drag coefficient of 0.24. To cut through the air easily, Audi added features like active cooling air intakes, an enclosed underbody, aerodynamically optimized wheels, and flush electronic door handles.

Underneath the skin, the rear-wheel-drive A2 e-tron comes with four power outputs and three battery capacities. The lineup starts with a base variant producing 168 PS paired with a 52 kWh battery. Moving up the range, buyers can opt for a 188 PS version with a 61 kWh battery, a 228 PS model, or the flagship 322 PS twin-motor variant with 545 Nm of torque. The latter two variants use a larger 84 kWh battery. Range tops out at an impressive 646 kilometers on a single charge for the 170 kW configuration. DC fast charging caps out at 183 kW for the largest pack, allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in 29 minutes.

The A2 e-tron also introduces bidirectional charging capabilities. The built-in Vehicle-to-Load function allows drivers to power external appliances like e-bikes or camping equipment directly from an outlet in the trunk or via an external adapter. In select markets, it can even feed power back into a home grid using Vehicle-to-Home technology.

Despite its compact footprint, the interior maximizes cabin space using a 2.77-meter wheelbase. The dash is wrapped in a continuous soft fabric panel and features a massive curved glass setup that merges an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster with a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Practical touches include dynamic magnetic storage clips known as the Fidlock fastening system, wireless charging for two phones at once, a 396-liter rear boot, and a 13-liter front trunk.

The new A2 e-tron is positioned against premium compact EVs such as the BMW iX1, Mercedes-Benz EQA, Kia EV3, Mini Cooper E/SE, and Volvo EX30.

Orders for the Audi A2 e-tron open in September 2026, with European deliveries starting in December 2026 at a starting price of 38,200 euros in Germany. There is no confirmation yet whether this will be available for the Philippine market.
