GAC AION UT scores five-stars in Euro NCAP
GAC AION UT achieves five-star safety
The newly launched GAC AION UT has just been awarded five stars by the Euro New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) with five stars, the highest rating that can be earned. The AION UT is one of the first mass-produced Chinese cars to pass the 2026 safety tests.
The test evaluates four criteria: Safe Driving, Crash Avoidance, Crash Protection, and Post-Crash Safety. These tests place importance on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and vulnerable road user protection, which focuses on the safety of pedestrians and two-wheeled road users—all of which the AION UT passed.

Part of what contributed to the vehicle’s performance is the “Dragon-Bone Embraced Body Structure”, where 71% of the vehicle is made up of high-strength steel. This includes features like a one-piece hot-stamped dual-ring design, an extra-wide 180mm crash box, and a roof that can withstand 8 tons of load.
Inside, occupants are bolstered by an advanced 7-airbag system which features a 2.1-meter V-side curtain airbag and a front far-side airbag to protect the driver and passenger from impacting each other during side collisions. The vehicle incorporates other active safety features like autonomous emergency braking (AEB) that exceeds legislative requirements, cyclist dooring prevention, and child presence detection (CPD).

"Earning the Euro NCAP Five-Star Safety Certification represents the ultimate endorsement from an authoritative international body for the AION UT’s uncompromised safety engineering," said Calvin Cheng, General Manager of GAC Philippines. "More than just an award, this milestone is a testament to our deep passion and commitment to empower and modernize mobility for Filipinos, bringing world-class safety and cutting-edge electric innovation right to local streets."
This latest achievement of the GAC AION UT aligns with GAC’s core brand philosophy of consistently building around trust and innovation to deliver uncompromised safety and consumer protection, setting a benchmark for small pure-electric vehicles worldwide.
