Ford PH to launch new Everest base variant?
Everest Active 4x2 gets LTO nod
Ford seems to be looking to cover both ends of the model range as the brand is preparing to introduce an update to the Everest SUV.
Apart from the Everest Platinum that’s powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, the Land Transportation Office has also released the homologation papers of the new Everest in its Active variant, which looks set to be the new entry-level model.
In other markets such as Australia and Thailand, Ford has already replaced the Trend variant and rebranded the entry-level trim as the Active, with upgraded standard equipment such as a larger touchscreen, black trims on the exterior, and a unique set of 18-inch wheels. For the upcoming model refresh, it looks like Ford PH could be following the same structure.

Based on the homologation document, the Everest Active will be powered by the same 2.0-liter single turbo diesel engine making 170 PS and 405 Nm of torque. But this time, instead of a wet belt for its timing system, this could likely have the new timing chain for improved durability.
Also, the transmission has been upgraded from a 6-speed to a 10-speed automatic that drives the rear wheels.
While current market conditions favor electrified vehicles over diesels, pickup passenger vehicles (PPVs) still remain popular in the Philippine market. In Ford’s case, the update will definitely come in handy since the Everest is one of the brand’s best sellers.
