Earlier this month, Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia officially launched the XForce HEV, marking the first time the electrified crossover has made its way outside of Thailand. At the time, we thought the XForce HEV for the Indonesian market came directly from Thailand.

However, at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), the Mitsubishi XForce HEV made its first public appearance in Indonesia. Better yet, Mitsubishi confirmed that the electrified XForce is in fact manufactured at the company's Krama Yudha factory in West Java.

This means the Indonesian market gets both the regular 1.5L naturally aspirated XForce and the 1.6L electrified XForce HEV. Since Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) gets the XForce from Indonesia, we're curious if this could mean the B-SUV will finally get a hybrid powertrain in the not-so-distant future.

For now, there is no word yet on whether Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia plans to export the XForce HEV to other Southeast Asian markets. Another possibility is that the XForce HEV may be the vehicle MMPC plans to produce at Sta. Rosa, Laguna, since they already announced they want to build hybrid vehicles in the Philippines as part of the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS).

As a reminder, the XForce HEV is powered by a 1.6L inline-four that's assisted by an electric motor and a compact lithium-ion battery pack. This gives the XForce HEV a combined system output of 116 PS and 255 Nm of torque. It comes with seven drive modes as standard, which include: EV, Charge, Tarmac, Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud. It also has an electric water pump to reduce parasitic loss in the powertrain and a newly developed two-speed transaxle to deliver better acceleration, as well as improved quietness at high speeds.

With Indonesia now making the Mitsubishi XForce HEV, we're curious if we'll get it directly from our ASEAN neighbor or if MMPC plans to manufacture the hybrid crossover locally.
