Could 7-seater Jetour T2 Plus PHEV work here in PH?
Jetour reveals the T2 Plus PHEV with three rows of seats
When Jetour officially revealed the T2 for the Philippine market, it quickly became one of their best-selling models. Available with either a 2.0L turbocharged engine or a 1.5L turbo plug-in hybrid system, customers who are looking to get themselves a Defender-like vehicle with plenty of toys & features can now get one for way less.
But since the T2 is only available as a five-seater, those who are looking for a three-row crossover SUV may be tempted to get something else. Sure, Jetour also sells the X70 Lightning i-DM, but it's not exactly the T2 in terms of looks and aesthetics.

Well, Jetour may have solved this conundrum by coming up with a longer version of the T2. Say hello to the T2 Plus, and yes, it's extensively longer than the regular T2. Measuring 5034mm long, it gets a longer body to make room for the third row seats. Think of what Land Rover did for the Defender 130, which also received an extended body to give it extra seats.
Despite the longer body, the rest of the exterior dimensions have been carried over, as it still measures 2006mm wide, 1880mm tall, and still has the 2800mm wheelbase. What's clear, however, is the T2 Plus now has longer rear overhangs at 1,342mm, which is plenty compared to the regular T2's 1,093mm rear overhang.
While Jetour has no pictures of the third-row seats, they did say that the T2 Plus comes with seating for 7 people. This likely means it has a 2+3+2 seat layout. When it comes to features, it still gets a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, in-vehicle Wi-Fi, over-the-air upgrades, a wireless charging pad, USB-C and Type A charging ports, full leather upholstery, and a panoramic glass roof.

Under the hood, the T2 Plus is available with the brand's i-DM PHEV system, which consists of a 1.5L turbocharged inline-four that makes 156 PS with 220 Nm of torque, electric motors, and a high-capacity battery pack. The 4x2 version has an electric motor, which puts out 224 PS with 390 Nm of torque, while the AWD variant gets a pair of electric motors that generate a combined 462 PS and a healthy 700 Nm of torque.
The 4x2 version has a 26.7 kWh battery pack, which gives it an EV range of up to 100 km, based on the WLTC cycle. On the other hand, the AWD version packs a bigger 43.24 battery, which translates to an EV range of up to 160 km. The combined system range for both variants is likely rated beyond 1,000 km. Power is then sent to the wheels via a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).

Jetour Auto Philippines has yet to announce if they plan to launch the three-row T2 Plus PHEV for the Philippine market. But with three-row PHEVs continuing to grow in popularity, perhaps they could capitalize on this booming segment. The only question now is, when can we expect Jetour to actually bring it here?
