Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray hybrid set for a PH launch?
DOE officially recognizes Corvette E-Ray as a hybrid electric vehicle
Here's something that we weren't expecting to see on the Department of Energy's (DOE) list of recognized hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).
While Chevrolet Philippines already has the Captiva EV, Captiva PHEV, and the Spark EUV in its lineup of electrified vehicles, it seems the bow-tie brand wants to introduce a high-performance model that's also coding-exempt.
Recently appearing on the DOE's list of recognized HEVs is the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. Not only is it listed as a 2026 model year vehicle, but its full specifications are also mentioned on the DOE's website. For starters, it has a small 1.9 kWh battery pack, a maximum electric output of 119 kW (or 162 PS), and a maximum engine output of 354 kW (or 482 PS).

Size-wise, the Corvette E-Ray measures 4734mm long, 2024mm wide, and 1237mm tall on a 2722mm wheelbase. It also has massive 20-inch alloy wheels in the front wrapped in 275/30 series tires, while the rear gets 21-inch alloys with 345/25 series tires.
A quick look at the exact powertrain specifications reveals that the Corvette E-Hybrid comes with the 6.2L LT2 V8 engine that benefits from direct injection and cylinder deactivation. The all-aluminum V8 engine makes 482 PS at 6450 rpm and 613 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. It is then assisted by an electric motor that produces 162 PS and 165 Nm of torque. The motor then gets its power from a 1.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

All of these translate to a total system output of 473 kW or 643 PS that's sent to the wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). From a standstill, Chevrolet claims the Corvette E-Ray can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of over 295 km/h.
With the electrified Corvette E-Ray getting HEV recognition from the DOE, we're wondering if the automaker plans to hold the official launch before the year ends.
