BMW M Concept Neue Klasse is our best look at all-new M3 (and M3 EV)
BMW reveals the future of high-performance M vehicles with M Concept Neue Klasse
After giving us a glimpse of the all-electric M3 earlier this year, BMW has officially taken the covers off the M Concept Neue Klasse. Not only is it our best look yet at the upcoming M3 EV, but it also previews the design language that will be used by BMW's high-performance vehicles in the coming years.
Revealed in the metal at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, the M Concept Neue Klasse is heavily based on the BMW i3, but has been cranked up to eleven in terms of overall looks & design. With a wide stance, a huge lower air intake on the front bumper, cube-shaped LED light signatures dubbed “Track Lights”, and wide fenders, the M Concept Neue Klasse is not subtle by any means.

Combined with its pronounced proportions, precise lines, muscular shoulders, and wide wheel arches, the concept looks lean, mean, and aerodynamic from every direction. It also has a relatively short wheelbase and massive black alloy wheels, which further highlight the concept's athletic design.
Thanks to the retro-inspired Neue Klasse design language, the concept evokes a retro and boxy-inspired look, which somehow connects it with the M3 E30 of yesteryear. In fact, BMW put the two vehicles side-by-side, and both vehicles appear to represent BMW's evolution of the M3 over the years. Even the rear design serves somewhat of a throwback due to its retro-inspired rear bumper and angular ducktail spoiler.

Last but certainly not least, the M Neue Klasse Concept is finished in a distinct Monza Red Metallic paint, which immediately catches everyone's attention.
Hop inside, and the M Concept Neue Klasse features an enthusiast-focused cabin. It has four individual bucket seats that were designed for high dynamic driving situations and feature structural elements made from natural fiber. Meanwhile, the seat upholstery is finished in Bathurst Blue & Berry Red, which is a direct nod to the BMW M's signature colors in a two-tone Merino leather material.

BMW M also used Nubuck Leather for the first time on the concept's steering wheel, door panels, and roll bar. Perhaps this signals BMW's intent to use that type of leather on all future M vehicles. And just like the i3, the M Concept Neue Klasse features the brand's panoramic display and the latest BMW Operating System for the touchscreen media display.

Powering the M Neue Klasse Concept is BMW's eDrive system that's currently based on Gen6 technology. Like the prototype they teased earlier, the M Concept Neue Klasse comes with four individual electric motors that are managed by the BMW M Dynamic Performance Control.
Official output figures have yet to be revealed, but the M3 EV (or i3M, as some reported) could generate between 700 PS and over 1,000 PS. It will also have an 800V architecture, a high-voltage battery pack that's rated at over 100 kWh, and a chassis that's built to perform despite the added weight penalty of a large battery pack.

There's no word yet as to when BMW plans to launch the all-new M3 and M3 EV. But given they already revealed the concept version, perhaps we can expect the debut to happen before the year ends, or perhaps in early 2027.
