The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) has wrapped up the 10th edition of the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), which means the biennial event has been going on for nearly two decades

While it’s always been a venue for new vehicle launches that buyers can look forward to, the event also serves as a crystal ball that reveals where the participating brands are headed in the foreseeable future.

This year’s edition, which featured 17 participating brands and more than 150 car displays, showed exactly just that. Electrification was the dominant theme, but the transition was communicated in vastly different ways.

As others accelerated their full EV ambitions, some chose to remind there’s still plenty to look forward to in the internal combustion segment. Some decided to mix it up with PHEVs and hybrids as well. That said, let’s go through what we saw at the recently concluded 2026 Philippine International Motor Show.

Toyota

Choice is the powerful message that Toyota delivered at the 10th edition of PIMS, as they arrived at the event with a three-pronged attack on its multi-pathway approach. The Land Cruiser FJ made its local debut for traditional off-road enthusiasts, with the gas-powered 4x4 starting at just over PHP 2.2 million. Meanwhile, the Land Cruiser 300 HEV is for buyers seeking electrification without compromise, and their popular midsize pickup truck, the Hilux, is now being offered with a BEV variant with over 300 km of range for just under PHP 3 million.

The ICE, EV, and HEV theme continued with Toyota also showcasing the bZ4X, the diesel-powered next-generation Hilux, and Gazoo Racing models like the GR Supra and GR Corolla in their pavilion.

Nissan

Rejuvenation, on the other hand, is the theme for Nissan’s PIMS lineup as they presented a broader electrification offensive for the Philippine market. This was brought by the overseas market debuts of the Navara Pro PHEV and the Primera EV, which are part of the Nissan “From China” export strategy. The Navara Pro shows Nissan extending electrification beyond passenger cars to lifestyle and work-oriented vehicles, while the Primera EV signals a continued push for Nissan in the battery-electric segment after the Leaf.

Lastly, the refreshed Kicks e-Power and the return of the X-Trail as an e-Power model in PH demonstrate the brand’s continued confidence in its unique electrified technology.

MG

Among the brands at PIMS, MG was one of the most aggressive in delivering its push toward electrified vehicles, as it is expanding the technology in mainstream segments, or in particular vehicle categories that Filipino buyers purchase in large numbers.

Apart from the PIMS debut of the popular G50 PHEV, which again drew large crowds as a 7-seater electrified MPV, the MG4 Urban was launched to make EV ownership more attainable, starting at just over PHP 1.1 million. The market debuts, on the other hand, of the RX9 PHEV and the HS PHEV further expanded the role of plug-in hybrids in MG Motor Philippines’ lineup.

Omoda & Jaecoo

Much like MG, Omoda & Jaecoo came to PIMS with their push to expand electrification in the mainstream. They doubled it up with the launch of the battery-electric version of the Jaecoo J5, which offers up to 461 km of overall range while having an indicative price of PHP 1.4 million. The plug-in hybrid Jaecoo J7 was once again shown in a major auto show together with the all-wheel-drive, battery-electric EJ6, while the brand also previewed its upcoming flagship PHEV with the Jaecoo J8.

Geely

Geely is having its resurgence in the Philippine market so far, and it started once the brand offered its electrified vehicles with competitive features, but more importantly, very competitive prices. The same story transpired at PIMS as Geely launched the all-new EX2 hatchback, drawing potential buyers in as the hatchback offers up to 325 km of range with a starting price of PHP 938,000 for the Pro variant.

Alongside the EX2, the battery and PHEV versions of the EX5 were on display, along with the first three models that made Geely a household name in the PH market – the Coolray, the Okavango, and the Emgrand.

Chery

Chery has been making waves in the electrified segment, particularly with the Tiggo rEV and the value it offers as a 7-seater PHEV. But for the 10th edition of PIMS, Chery Auto Philippines has recalled a familiar name for its first push in the battery electric segment with the launch of the Chery Q hatchback. With over 400 km of range, the bigger, more efficient, but still funky-looking Q hatchback retains its value for money aspect with a price tag of just over PHP 1.1 million.

Suzuki

Speaking of familiar names and EVs, Suzuki Auto Philippines used PIMS to signal its entry in the battery-electric segment after years of sticking with mild hybrids and small cars in its lineup. Suzuki launched the all-new e Vitara – a B-segment crossover that offers plenty of features, and gives a range of up to 475 km on a single charge. But with a price tag of PHP 2.020M, Suzuki may have a challenge ahead in competing against other EVs, particularly those from Chinese brands.

Subaru

Subaru has always been associated with performance and adventure. That is what the Japanese brand has banked on with the theme of its PIMS booth, headed by the market launch of the new Crosstrek that now comes with a 2.0-liter e-Boxer Hybrid powertrain, but still comes with the symmetrical AWD system that the brand is known for.

The Crosstrek e-Boxer joins the Forester e-Boxer Hybrid in Subaru’s electrified lineup, retailing for PHP 1.998 million. Speaking of the latter, two examples were showcased with different outdoor dress-up kits to further convey the message of electrified adventure. Last but not least, the Subaru WRX tS Wagon demonstrates practical performance and taps into Subaru’s enthusiast side as the car was fitted with an STI kit that perfectly matches the wagon’s World Rally Blue pearl color.

Mitsubishi

While many brands focused heavily on emerging technologies, Mitsubishi’s presence highlights the continued importance of practical mobility by introducing a more affordable variant of the XForce crossover, which retails for PHP 1.119 million. Joining the XForce at the PIMS booth are the all-new Destinator, Xpander Cross, and the Triton pickup truck dressed up in Ralliart AXCR colors.

The biggest highlight in the Mitsubishi booth, however, is the preview of the Outlander PHEV that will be launching this August. This is the first piece in the puzzle for Mitsubishi’s electrification plans, as the brand is also making steps towards producing hybrid vehicles in the country.

Isuzu

Together with Mitsubishi, Isuzu stuck with its internal combustion engine models in its PIMS showcase, displaying modified versions of the trusty D-Max pickup truck in the single cab and double cab body styles, along with the Traviz. Showgoers also got a glimpse of the updated D-Max, which was previewed at the show.

Honda

Honda was among those who did not showcase a new model or hold a new vehicle launch at PIMS. Instead, the Japanese automaker used the motor show to reveal its new corporate logo and announce its push in delivering better aftersales services.

That said, the brand still showcased its e:HEV lineup, starting with the Civic, HR-V, CR-V AWD, and the Prelude, along with the special edition version of the non-hybrid City sedan.

 BAIC, Kia, Jetour

BAIC, Kia, and Jetour also made their presence felt without launching a new model, but showcased their already comprehensive electrified vehicle lineup at PIMS. BAIC highlighted their newest adventure-ready electrified 4x4 SUVs with the B40e Trailmaster REEV and also display their B30e Dune, a popular model.

Jetour showed off their Gaia G700 flagship model, plus the Jetour T1 and T2 i-DM, still gathered audiences in their first appearances at PIMS.

ACMobility took a part of their Kia presentation time to flex their EV charging ecosystem, which pretty much capitalizes on the recent surge in EV ownership, whichever brand people choose.

Kia did get to flex its multiple powertrain solutions for the Philippine market, starting with the non-hybrid Sonet, the Sorento and Carnival Turbo Hybrids, together with the EV5 and EV9 for the brand’s fully electric models. Kia also announced the arrival of upcoming vehicles: the Sportage Turbo Hybrid, the EV3, and the PV5.

Tesla, VinFast, and Foton

If you’re in the market for full EVs, however, then these three brands were worth visiting during PIMS. VinFast was present with a lineup that consists of the VF3, the Herio Green, and the Limo Green 7-seater MPV, particularly highlighting their attractive battery subscription program that drastically reduces the upfront prices of their models and making EV ownership more attainable.

For those who are ready to go into the higher tiers of EV ownership, then the Tesla lineup will prove to be attractive as their long-range EVs are on full display, starting from the PHP 1.8 million Model 3, and the Model Y that starts at just under PHP 2.4 million.

Foton, on the other hand, is perhaps the most unique among the participants at PIMS. As most brands offered electrified vehicles for potential private vehicle owners, Foton entered PIMS with an all-EV lineup for business operations such as delivery, logistics, and people-moving with the Harabas, Transvan, Traveller Sierra, and the Coach EV.

When viewed individually, each of the participating brands’ elaborate displays were telling their own unique stories. But when viewed as a whole, the 10th edition of the Philippine International Motor Show represents how brands are responding to the needs of customers for mobility.

As a result, we can say the market has entered its most diverse era where there’s an unprecedented variety of technologies, body styles, as well as powertrain options, covering almost every mobility solution that works best for customers and their different needs. It only gets more diverse from here on out.
