Hyundai reveals two more powertrain options for all-new Tucson
Hyundai has been quite busy talking about the all-new Tucson. Not only did they reveal its boxy exterior back in August 2026, but the Korean automaker also revealed the improved 1.6L turbo and turbo-hybrid engines last month.
Well, the fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson has finally made its way to North America, and the automaker has revealed more powertrain options for the all-new compact crossover. For starters, it's available with an upgraded plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system, which consists of a 1.6L turbocharged inline-four that's assisted by a pair of electric motors and a 17.1 kWh battery pack.

This gives the Tucson PHEV a combined 292 PS and an EV range of up to 81 km. Power is then sent to all four wheels via a 4WD system and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It's also available with an onboard 7.2 kW charger to allow drivers to recharge it while on the go.
What we weren't expecting, however, was the availability of a naturally aspirated 2.0L engine. This means those who prefer a simpler engine can get the 2.0L option. It makes 150 PS with 191 Nm of torque and can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

Beyond that, there's also the more rugged version of the Tucson available, dubbed the XRT. It features enhanced rugged details, which give the Tucson a more imposing presence. It gets a wider fascia with extensive use of body cladding, extended wheel arch moldings painted black, a forged carbon fiber-inspired motif that's applied to the wheel arches & lower panels, a skid plate, and bold bumpers, giving the Tucson XRT a more rugged appearance.
If you prefer a Tucson that's more capable when taking the road less traveled, look no further than the XRT Pro. It offers enhanced protection, control, and functionality and is equipped with a longer list of features. It comes standard with all-terrain tires, aggressive approach & departure angles, front recovery tow hooks, up to 210mm of ground clearance, and an expanded body cladding package.

With the all-new Hyundai Tucson now available in Korea and North America, we're wondering when Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. plans to bring the fifth-generation crossover here.
