If you’ve been following the World Rally Championship in the past few years, you would be aware of the dominance of Toyota Gazoo Racing.

And this year, they’ve etched their name in the record books once again. After taking a 1-2 finish at the 12th round of the 2026 WRC Championship in Chile, Toyota Gazoo Racing has secured its sixth consecutive WRC manufacturers title, extending an unbeaten run dating back to 2021.

For Toyota, it’s their 10th WRC teams’ title overall, drawing them level with Lancia as the most successful manufacturer in WRC history. Their six straight titles also equal Lancia’s own run of consecutive titles from 1987 to 1992, which stood for a long time as a benchmark for sustained dominance in the WRC.

Toyota won its first three manufacturers’ titles in 1993 and 1994 with the Celica GT-Four, and in 1999 with the Corolla WRC. After returning to the championship in 2017, Toyota claimed its fourth title with the Yaris WRC before beginning its current dominance in 2021 with the GR Yaris Rally1.

The Japanese manufacturer is also set to secure the drivers’ title this year, as a three-way battle between championship leader Elfyn Evans, Sami Pajari, and Rally Chile winner Oliver Solberg is set to go down to the wire with only two rounds to go.  All three are driving for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, and they are only separated by 21 points with 70 still to play with.

Likewise, last year’s champion and WRC legend Sebastien Ogier, along with Takamoto Katsuta, still have an outside chance to win this year’s drivers’ title, as they are still mathematically in the hunt.

The next rally is the WRC Rally Italia Sardegna, which will start on October 1. The finale in Saudi Arabia is still up in the air, as tensions in the Middle East are preventing organizers from confirming whether the event will push through.
