This is your first look at the Xiaomi SU7 EV
Pictures, details of the Xiaomi SU7 EV revealed ahead of launch
Earlier this year, we got a glimpse of Xiaomi’s EV before its official reveal. Based on the grainy images that were leaked, the upcoming EV appears to have taken inspiration from McLaren and Aston Martin. Moreover, the prototype EV supposedly has the codename MS11 and could take on the likes of the BYD Seal.
Fast forward to Q4 of 2023, and the first images and details of the Xiaomi EV have been revealed unofficially. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the People’s Republic has released the initial pictures and specs of the soon-to-be-launched EV which is called the Xiaomi SU7.

Starting with its design, the SU7 carries a similar design as the prototype renders. However, the vehicle shown in the metal is significantly bigger than the digital rendering. In fact, the Xiaomi SU7 measures 4997mm, 1963mm wide, and 1455mm tall. It also has an impressive 3000mm wheelbase which rivals that of luxury sedans. Like the prototype, the SU7 will come with a pair of McLaren-like LED headlights along with LED taillights that seem to have been inspired by Aston Martin.
There will be two wheel sizes available for the Xiaomi SU7; 19 inches and 20 inches. Tire specifications, on the other hand, are 245/45/R19 and 245/40/R20, respectively. Also worth mentioning is what looks like a camera on the B-pillar. This could mean the SU7 may get facial recognition technology to allow drivers to lock or unlock the vehicle. In addition, the upcoming EV will be available with LiDAR technology which likely means it will come with some sort of self-driving technology.

Powertrain-wise, the SU7 will reportedly come with either a 220kW motor which translates to 300 PS, or a 495 kW dual-electric setup that churns out 673 PS. It will also be equipped with a lithium-iron phosphate battery sourced from BYD although a more powerful lithium ternary battery from CATL will also be offered on higher-grade versions.
Official range outputs have not been revealed just yet although the SU7 will reportedly have a top speed of 210 km/h for the entry-level model. Meanwhile, the more powerful version will have a 265 km/h top speed.

Mass production of the Xiaomi SU7 is set to start in December 2023 while deliveries are slated to begin in February 2024. Production of the EV will be done by BAIC in Beijing and the factory has already started building pre-production models for testing.
Do you think the Xiaomi SU7 will become as popular as the brand’s smartphones and other high-tech gadgets? Let us know in the comments what you think.
